U.S. Waters Guidance Still on Hold--Senate Republicans have reintroduced a bill (Preserve the Waters of the United States Act, S. 1006) that would prohibit the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) from finalizing a jointly issued draft guidance.

Bill Halts Guidance on ‘Federally Regulated Waters’--The freshly introduced bill--Preserve the Waters of the United States Act, S. 1006--would also prohibit the agencies from using the guidance or any “substantially similar guidance” as the basis for any final rule.

Property Owner Failed to Report Oil Spill--In addition to reporting an oil spill to the federal government, did you know that you also have to report a spill to your state. The Massachusetts DEP (MassDEP) penalized a Boston property owner $25,000 for failing to report a 275-gallon (gal) release of diesel fuel in 2012.
