What Does No Wetlands Permit Equal? $170K Fine -- A northern California construction company recently agreed to pay a $170,000 for illegally dumping to federally protected wetlands during the construction of a strip mall.

Are You Exempt from Wetlands Permitting--Some activities are exempt from Section 404 wetlands permit requirements. These include normal farming, silviculture, and ranching activities. In order to fall under this exemption, the activities must be part of an established (i.e., ongoing) farming, silviculture, or ranching operation.
