I am heading down to the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference WEFTEC in New Orleans in just two weeks, and am finalizing my agenda. There is an overwhelming amount of information presented each year at the conference, and deciding how I should spend three short days is a challenge. WEFTEC is the largest conference of its kind in North America with over 18,000 water industry professionals attending, and offers over 100 technical sessions and almost 1,000 exhibitors during the weeklong event.
The most exciting announcement in the past week is that Lisa Jackson, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will deliver the keynote address at a special water leaders session, entitled "40 Years of Clean Water and Innovation for Tomorrow." Administrator Jackson will discuss smarter and more efficient ways to manage water to best meet present and future demands. The keynote sessions will be the first I attend during this year's WEFTEC, but where should I go from there? There are sessions on stormwater management, municipal and industrial treatment technologies, biosolids, facility operations and maintenance, operator training....the list is lengthy.
